Appendix Twelve: Josephus' Chronologies

This chart covers the period:

104 BCE (Line 522) to 586 BCE (Line O)   and  586 BCE (Line O) to 1941 BCE (Line 1468)

Please note that there are two different legends:

One is for the period 104 BCE to 586 BCE and the other For the period 586 BCE to 1941 BCE. Note also that each line in the Left hand column is numbered to assist with mathematical calculations

Legend One for Columns A - J

104 BCE to 586 BCE

A = 481 Solar Years between the Fall of Jerusalem and Aristobolus - not a precise fit

B = 481 Solar Years as Josephus as calculated between the two events listed in (A)

C = Historical Solar Years from our Western Perspective

D = Names and Events

E = The artificial years that elapse Between King David and Cyrus the Persian King - note that - the 13.5 years  of duplicated reigns is removed and David's reign commences as Year 14 - note that - The Babylonian Exile occurs in the 473 rd Year of Davidic Monarchy as required by Biblical History

F = Artificial Years between Cyrus and Aristobolus (104 BCE)

G = Artificial years elapsing between The Babylonian Exile in 586 BCE and Cyrus

H = 995 Artificial years between David and Aristobolus

I = Nil

J = 423 years artificial years between 550 BCE Cyrus becoming King  & 104 BCE Aristobolus 

Legend Two for Columns A - J

586 BCE to 1941 BCE

Note that some of these columns record a further 13 years beyond the event pinpointed. This is to demonstrate the total number of years quoted by Josephus - as opposed to the actual years measured on the chart after deducting the 13.5 years of overlapping reigns (duplicated) in Biblical Narratives

A = Moses birth to the Exodus  - and -   480 years from entrance into Canaan to 4th year Solomon

B = From the Babylonian Exile to the Founding of Jerusalem

C = Gregorian Calendar - (aligning our perception of History) 

D = Period of the Patriarchs to the Sojourn in Egypt and the resultant Exodus - also - David and Solomon

E = King David to Hyksos Expulsion (589years) - & -  David to the Founding of Jerusalem (995 years)

F = Babylonian Exile to the (Hyksos) Exodus referred to by Josephus

G = Nil

H = Nil

I = 515 Artificial Years between The Exodus and Solomon

J = Nil

NOTE:  Column C

Records artificial years within the Gregorian calendar.  13 artificial years occur over 12 solar years.

Therefore One solar year will be recorded twice in every 12 year cycle.
