I orginally published this article in my column at Magic City Morning Star News on September 2nd 2006.
Within one week, the situation in Gaza has become so bad, that there are calls for an international peace keeping force to protect Palestinians from Palestinians.
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh declared on Friday that his embattled Hamas-led government had no intention of stepping down, despite a sweeping civil service strike and an economic crisis that a top UN official said has brought the Gaza Strip to a "point of near meltdown."
The original article,
Public Honesty in Palestine is a Refreshing Change
For years now we have heard nothing but the whining of the Bleeding Hearts clubs who constantly carry on about Israel being responsible for all the problems in Palestine.
One can only speculate as to why it is that we are finally hearing honest, public, and self effacing statements coming out of Palestine, but how refreshing it is to hear, not the least reason for which, is that it finally shows up the Anti-Semitic (at worst) and completely stupid (at best) attitudes of the Media and activist groups who, in droning on and on about the plight of the poor Palestinians, have blamed Israel for that poverty.
In the last few weeks, public statements have been made from within the leadership and Media of Palestine, that the PA syphoned off funds that should have been used to help the Palestinian people; that the real violence and economic woes of Gaza are caused by Palestinian gunmen, and that local Media have been living under threat and intimidation, lest they publish the truth about what goes on in Palestine.
We know that Hezbollah staged all the favourable press during the Lebanon War and we know that Journalists care less for the truth, than dollar generating headlines. We have also known about the criminal activities of the PA leadership, and the fact that the people of Palestine suffer because their leaders use them as PR drawcards and leverage in Political Manouevring, but despite all of this, many have continued their 'bleeding heart concealed anti-semitic' cries for justice.
But finally, now that the truth is being published in Palestine, and we can see that the people are publically protesting the government and the different factions are turning on each other; and now that we can see that the people have gotten sick of the Military stealing all the money needed for building and sustaining the community, we can also see the 'anti-semitism' of all those people who see the Palestinian military as heroes.
Here are excerpts from three stories (which you can read in full by following the links) which shows a different picture to that painted by the Anti Jewish lobby.
It is time for the Palestinian Leadership to concentrate on raising the living standards of the people, instead of razing it.
Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip complained on Tuesday that they were being subjected to a campaign of intimidation and terror by various armed groups and urged the Palestinian Authority to punish those responsible.
Several Palestinian journalists and editors have been killed or beaten over the past few years by unidentified gunmen, especially in the Gaza Strip. Until today, none of the assailants have been caught.
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on armed Palestinian groups that are firing rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip, saying they were responsible for bringing death and destruction to the Palestinians.
Addressing thousands of Palestinian demonstrators outside his office in Ramallah, Abbas said: "So far we have about 250 martyrs in the Gaza Strip and thousands of wounded people and destroyed houses. Why? What are the reasons for this? Let's start searching for the reason for all this."
The money stolen by senior Palestinian Authority officials over the past decade is enough to pay the salaries of all PA civil servants for at least six months, the Hamas-controlled government said on Saturday.
The announcement came in response to a general strike that began in the Palestinian public sector on Saturday which paralyzed most government institutions and schools.
How Marvellous to hear the truth spoken in Palestine.
...Nagdi Allam, born in Egypt, and today vice editor of the Corriere della Sera. He wrote that the root of evil was in the blind ideology of hatred by some Muslims, which was raping the faith. Muslim terrorists kill Muslims and think it is legitimate to plan the destruction of Israel. The West should stop considering itself the cause of everything. The problem is an internal Islamic problem since extremists have transformed the faith in God into an ideology which wants to impose a theocratic and totalitarian regime, he concluded.
Today, Europe in particular and the West in general lack a clear strategy for coping with the Muslims who live in their midst. Premier Romano Prodi and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's notion that the Palestinian problem is at the center of the crisis in the Middle East does not explain why recent terrorist acts have been carried out in Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia - all of them Muslim Arab countries.
