Defining and Defeating the Next Strain of Terrorism

It’s been only 15 years since the 9/11 attacks. But when you look at how the terrorist threat has evolved since then, it seems as if a century or more has gone by.

Things have been changing — fast. And if our response doesn’t change, and just as quickly, we’re practically begging for trouble. Not another 9/11, necessarily — but another Orlando. Another Fort Hood. Another San Bernardino.

Obama Feasts on Ignorance to Devour Property Rights

President Obama is successfully executing the most dangerous seizure of individual choice in our history because Americans are growing blind to the bond between property rights and human rights.

While farm owners surrender their land development rights to governments, federal agencies relocate affordable housing next to million dollar homes, and declare entire neighborhoods discriminatory.

Living by the Seashore: Down the Road A Piece

When I was a younger kid, my family used to visit the New Jersey seashore via train. That trip was different than our usual travels, smoke from the engine coming in the open windows, being excited to be at Atlantic City or Cape May, once getting sick from too much sun, and the fun of being on the Jersey beach.

1. Bethlehem’s Christian Arab leaders lobbied Israel against transferring the city to the Palestinian Authority. In 1993, on the eve of signing the Oslo Accord, the Christian mayor of Bethlehem, Elias Freij, admonished Israel’s Prime Minister Rabin: “Transferring Bethlehem to the Palestinian Authority would relegate it to a town of many churches, but devoid of Christians.” Since the 1993 establishment of the Palestinian Authority, the Christian majorities of Ramallah, Bethlehem and Beit Jala have been transformed into insignificant minorities.

Urban Myths about the U.S.A. Founding Fathers

If like me you constantly receive forwarded emails from who knows what original source warning you of the dangers posed to society by this, that or some other source, then you know that often these warnings are false.

I have a particular friend who often forwards me such emails and asks, ‘Is this true?’ I then do a quick search and usually find out that it is a mix of truth and lies. Sometimes those emails are obviously false like the one disparaging Muslims and Secular Humanists in Australia who refuse to stand for the Oath of Allegiance to the Flag. How shocking! Not that they don’t stand and speak the oath but that I didn’t know we had an oath of allegiance to the flag in Australia.

Let’s go for a walk Down the Road a Piece

When I was a kid, sometimes my worst enemy — my big brother — would suggest going for a walk.

I never turned that activity down — and I rarely do now, now that he is an old man with various ailments, and I am still a young guy ready for a good walk.

The Orlando Alarm Clock

This article was posted on the author’s website June 14, 2016 and the author granted my request to reproduced on this site. R.P. BenDedek

The one word that has consistently appeared on Facebook since the early hours of Sunday morning has been “LOVE”. It seems to have always been in the context of “Love your enemies” or most generally “Love, not hate, is the answer!” My question is: “The answer to what?” It certainly isn’t the answer for those families mourning the senseless loss of their loved ones, now is it? Love was what they felt for those they lost in that horrible tragedy. I can assure you that Love is not what they feel for the hateful man who murdered their love ones. And I doubt seriously that Love is what they feel for Muslim terrorists either.

A Passion for Local and Family History

What environment is best for growing children? One that fosters a work ethic? One that is spacious and teeming with life? One that promotes a sense of family and teamwork where everyone plays a role? One that teaches responsibility at an early age?

All of these are part of what the family farm provides. My youth was filled with this environment. However, for most of America, the family farm is history. My children and their children will not grow up in that tradition. They will only see it in glimpses: a family album, a story or two by grandpa and a few uncles, or a barn with aging unused farm equipment.
